The FIM EnduroGP World Championship finally got underway this weekend in Marco de Canaveses, Portugal, where the last two 2020 challenges took place.
A weekend of real enduro, between rain and sun, with a route of 60 km and 3 laps, with 4 special test per day for a total of 24 special test and the Supertest of Friday evening.
Outstanding double podium for Roni Kytonen, racing in the EJ1 class and in the Overall Junior World Championship. In a challenge until the last with Macoritto, the Finnish finished second the first day and won on Sunday. Two results that allowed him to finish on the Junior Overall podium in both days with the third and second position.
Not entirely a lucky race for Thomas Oldrati. At his debut in the E2 class with the Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro he finished with a good 5th position on Saturday, while on Sunday he was forced to the withdraw due to a bad rib contusion suffered after a crash during the second cross test.
Now no break: the next round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship is next weekend in Edolo, Italy.

Thomas Oldrati | Honda CRF 450RX Enduro
“It was not one of my favourite races, but on Saturday I finished 5th in the E2 and 10th In the overall although I was not in the best physical shape. On Sunday I wanted to improve, but in the second cross test I had a bad crash and I was forced to the withdraw due to a strong intercostal pain and an abdominal injury. Now let’s see how long my recovery will take: I really hope to get back for my home Grand Prix.”

Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team sul podio con Roni Kytonen
Il Campionato Mondiale FIM EnduroGP ha finalmente preso il via questo fine settimana Marco de Canaveses, in Portogallo, teatro delle ultime due sfide della scorsa stagione.
Un weekend di enduro vero, tra pioggia e sole, con un percorso di 60 km e 3 giri, con 4 prove speciali a giornata per un totale di 24 crono a cui aggiungere il Supertest di venerdì sera.
Bellissimo doppio podio per Roni Kytonen, in gara nella classe EJ1 e nella classifica Assoluta del Mondiale Junior. In una sfida sino all’ultimo secondo con Macoritto, il pilota finlandese ha concluso la prima giornata in seconda posizione, vincendo invece la domenica. Due risultati che gli hanno concesso di chiudere in entrambe le giornate anche sul podio dell’Assoluta Junior con la terza e la seconda posizione.
Gara non del tutto fortunata, invece, per Thomas Oldrati. Al suo esordio nella classe E2 con la Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro, dopo la buona 5° posizione di sabato, la domenica è invece stato costretto al ritiro per una brutta contusione costolare accusata a seguito di una caduta nel corso del secondo cross test.
Ora niente pausa: il prossimo appuntamento Mondiale è il prossimo fine settimana a Edolo (BS) con il Gran Premio d’Italia.

“Non era una delle mie gare preferite e, pur non essendo in perfetta forma fisica, sabato ero comunque riuscito a chiudere quinto di classe e decimo assoluto. Domenica ero deciso a migliorare, ma nel secondo cross test ho fatto una brutta caduta e sono stato costretto al ritiro per un forte dolore intercostale e una lacerazione all’addome. Ora vedremo i tempi di recupero domani al mio rientro in Italia: spero di poter tornare in sella per il Gran Premio di casa”
