Seven months after the last round (France 2021) this weekend the WPTGlobal FIM EnduroGP World Championship finally started with the Spanish Grand Prix taking place in Lalin, in the northwest of the country, near the popular Santiago de Compostela.
The event kicked off on Friday night with the Super Test and, each of the following two days, riders faced up to seven hours in the saddle on their way to completing three laps of 75 kilometers: Extreme Test with stones, technical and fast Cross Test and Enduro Test among woods. A tough and technical GP with a fast and very dug special test.
After the promising fifth-best time set in the Super Test, Thomas Oldrati was amazing in E1. Even on tough ground, different from the one he is used to, he maintained a great pace finishing twice on the second step of the podium and also achieving the 7th and 6th position in the EnduroGP. Extraordinary double position for Roni Kytonen too, twice second both in EJ1 and Junior Overall. Nathan Watson finished both days 4th close to E3’s top three. On Saturday he hit the EnduroGP top five, while on Sunday he set the 7th best time. Now, no time for a break: next weekend the team heads to Peso da Regua for the GP of Portugal.

Buona partenza stagionale per Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team nel Gran Premio di Spagna
A sette mesi di distanza dall’ultimo appuntamento (Francia 2021) il WPTGlobal FIM EnduroGP World Championship ha finalmente preso il via questo fine settimana con il Gran Premio di Spagna. La cittadina di Lalin, nel nord ovest del paese vicino alla popolare Santiago de Compostela, è stata il teatro della prima delle sette prove di questo 2022.
La gara è iniziata venerdì sera con il Super Test e in ciascuno dei due giorni successivi ha visto i piloti impegnati in 3 prove speciali da ripetere per 3 giri di 75 km: extreme test tra pietre e grossi massi, cross test tecnico e veloce ed enduro test tra boschi. Un GP difficile, tecnico, con speciali veloci e molto scavate.
Dopo il promettente quinto miglior tempo nel Super Test, nei due giorni di gara Thomas Oldrati è stato a dir poco superlativo: su terreni non a lui congeniali ha mantenuto l’ottimo passo concludendo due volte sul secondo gradino del podio della E1 e centrando anche la 7° e la 6° posizione nella EnduroGP.
Straordinario doppio podio anche per Roni Kytonen, due volte secondo nella EJ1 e altrettante nella Junior Assoluta.
Nella E3 performance a un soffio dalla top three per Nathan Watson, che ha concluso entrambe le giornate al 4° posto centrando sabato la top five della Enduro GP, mentre domenica ha registrato il 7° miglior tempo.
Ora niente pausa: il prossimo fine settimana è la volta del Gran Premio del Portogallo a Peso de Regua.
