The 2021 season of the Enduro Italian Championship officially kicked off today with the first seasonal round, held in Passirano (BS).
A thrilling year for Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team, this weekend on track with the French Theo Espinasse and the Finnish Rony Kytonen racing in the classification reserved to the foreign riders. Out of the game Thomas Oldrati due to the recent operation on his right hand, aiming to return for the round in Sicily.
At his debut with the new team and the CRF 250RX Enduro, Espinasse set good times in all the special test, maintaining a steady pace and finishing 8th in the foreigner’s class and 11th in the Overall. A good debut searching for a better feeling.
Kytonen struggled in finding the right pace on this type of special test: he finished 13th finding new interesting ideas to continue working with Honda RedMoto in view of the start of the World Championship.

“Quite positive first race of the season. Espinasse put up a good fight in the first lap, while he made a few mistakes in the last special test trying to recover: he had a good pace and can improve. Kytonen struggled in getting the feeling on this kind of special test, but we understood what to work on: we will use the next races to find the best set up and get ready for the World Championship.”

Con la prima prova in calendario, disputata domenica 7 marzo a Passirano (BS), ha ufficialmente preso il via la stagione 2021 degli Assoluti d’Italia Enduro.
Un anno che si prospetta ricco di emozioni per Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team, giunta in Franciacorta con il francese Theo Espinasse e il finlandese Rony Kytonen in gara nella classifica riservata ai piloti stranieri.
Assente per la recente operazione alla mano destra Thomas Oldrati, che punta a tornare in occasione della prova in Sicilia.
Al suo debutto con la nuova squadra in sella alla CRF 250RX Enduro, Espinasse ha registrato buoni tempi in tutte le speciali, mantenendo un ritmo costante che l’ha visto chiudere 8° nella classifica riservata agli stranieri e 11° nell’Assoluta a un soffio della top ten. Un buon esordio dal quale continuare a lavorare alla ricerca di maggior feeling.
Un pochino più in difficoltà nel trovare il giusto ritmo su questo tipo di speciali Kytonen, che ha concluso 13° cogliendo importanti spunti su cui proseguire il lavoro con Honda RedMoto in visione della partenza del Mondiale.

La gara mi è piaciuta molto, ma speravo di essere più veloce: l’obiettivo è continuare a lavorare e aumentare il feeling con la moto per essere più aggressivo. “Prima gara della stagione abbastanza positiva. Espinasse si è difeso bene il primo giro, mentre ha commesso qualche errore di troppo nelle ultime speciali nel tentativo di recuperare: ha un buon ritmo e può solo migliorare. Kytonen ha avuto un pochino più di difficoltà a prendere feeling su questo tipo di speciali, ma abbiamo capito su cosa lavorare: sfrutteremo le prossime gare per trovare il miglior set up e arrivare pronti al Mondiale.”
