The Enduro Italian Championship ends with a day to spare at the season finale in Sanremo-Arma di Taggia.
What was supposed to be a weekend of battles turned into a single day of competition, when early Saturday afternoon riders received the official communication of Sunday’s race cancellation due to weather warnings.
In this “one shot” round, the final battle for the Overall victory took place. An epic challenge between the major international enduro riders, including Steve Holcombe.
Arriving in Sanremo third in the standings – just 7 points behind leader Freeman and 2 from Verona – Holcombe took to the action on the new CRF250RX Enduro 2025 after racing the Six Days on the CRF 400RX Enduro. Battling throughout the day, the British rider saw his dreams of glory fade in the very last enduro test following a crash. Back in action, he managed to finish the race, ending second among the foreigners’ riders and third Overall. A podium that does not repay the effort in this long season, but that once again confirms the team led by Matteo Boffelli is among the best in the Championship standings, with Holcombe third Overall and second of the foreigners.
Growing Samuele Bernardini concludes 2024 positively. In Sanremo, he finished seventh overall and third in the 450 class, with the second position in the standings only behind Verona.
Masterpiece day for Manolo Morettini, ruler of a race that was nothing short of perfect in the Junior and tenth Overall. In a very close challenge with Rinaldi, he set the best time 5 out of the 14 special tests, finishing the remaining 7 times in P2, 1 in P3 and 1 in P4. A well-deserved victory that allows him to end the season in P2.
Superb victory also for Francesca Nocera, back to racing after a forced stop due to injury. After her great performance at the Six Days with a top five in the Women’s Trophy with the Italian Team, in Sanremo, she won both the race and the Championship.
Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team takes this opportunity to thank all sponsors and technical partners for their valuable support in this 2024 season and renews the appointment for an exciting 2025!
Steve Holcombe #1
“I came here with the focus of trying to win the Overall. We decided to race with the new CRF250RX Enduro 2025 after the Six Days and it was a good decision. I felt ok with the race but I crashed in the last enduro test and lost a lot of time finishing P3. Unfortunately, with the second day cancelled is impossible to win the Championship. Big thank you to the team for the efforts and for letting me try different things. I think we finished the season in a good way, we can be happy with our performances”.
Samuele Bernardini #23
“It was a bit tough for me as I started with the fatigue of the Six Days and was not able to push as hard as I wanted. I still finished on the podium and completed a pretty good season”.
Manolo Morettini #38
“Good day with the Overall top ten and Junior’s victory. Too bad for the cancellation of the second race day, because I was hoping to fight until the end. I want to thank the team, Matteo, Thomas and all the staff for this season”.
Francesca Nocera #443
“Tough race finished with a good day’s win and the title. Thanks to the team for this season: it didn’t go quite as I hoped, but we’ll have a chance to make up for it”.
