Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team ruled the second round of the Italian Championship, raced on 27th – 28th March in Custonaci, Sicily.
A hard-fought race, full of events, exciting, beautiful and well organized by the Enduro Club Custonaci: a course of 188 km with four laps and three different special tests (Enduro Test, Extreme Test, Cross Test) for a total of 22 special test and time sums of over an hour. The competition was a real success despite the anti-Covid-19 restrictions: numerous fans complied with the no-crowding rules and follow the race in safe distance.
On both days Thomas Oldrati won the 450 4T class, ruling the Overall Classification too with the third position on Saturday and the fourth on Sunday. With this double win he is second in the standing returning to race after the injury to the right thumb: on February 18th he underwent surgery by the hand specialist Professor Carlo Grandis and Dr. Alessandra Scalese. In Custonaci, on his return with the Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro, Oldrati was under Matteo Elitropi care, physiotherapist and osteopath.
Positive performance for Rony Kytonen and Theo Espinasse too, both competing in the classification reserved for foreign riders. The Finnish rider got two excellent top ten, 9th on Saturday and 10th on Sunday, setting good times in all the special test. 10th position for the French rider in the first day of competition, while on Sunday he was unfortunately forced to the withdraw due to a bad fall in the enduro test during the second lap.
Next round of the Italian Championship is scheduled on 24th – 25th April in Piediluco (TR).

“It went better than the first round. On Saturday I started a bit slow, but then I keep a good pace in the second and third lap. On Sunday I was faster, but in the last test I crashed and lost some positions. It’s a pity, but I’m still happy for the progress.”

Straodinaria doppia vittoria per Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team con Thomas Oldrati al rientro dopo l’infortunio
Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team è stato grande protagonista del secondo appuntamento degli Assoluti d’Italia 2021, disputata nel weekend di sabato 27 e domenica 28 marzo a Custonaci (TP), Sicilia.
Una gara combattuta, ricca di colpi di scena, esaltante, bella e ottimamente organizzata dall’Enduro Club Custonaci su percorso complessivo di 188 km articolato su quattro giri e tre differenti speciali: Enduro Test, Extreme Test, Cross Test per un totale di 22 prove cronometrate e somme dei tempi di oltre un’ora. La prova è stata un vero e proprio successo nonostante le restrizioni anti Covid-19: numerosi appassionati hanno rispettato le regole di non assembramento e a distanza di sicurezza hanno potuto seguire la gara lungo le speciali.
In entrambe le giornate di gara splendida affermazione di Thomas Oldrati, vincitore della classe 450 4T e grande protagonista della Classifica Assoluta con una bellissima terza posizione il sabato e la quarta domenica. Un rientro alle gare in grande stile, che lo vede già secondo in classifica di campionato dopo l’infortunio al pollice della mano destra e conseguente intervento chirurgico per ridurre le lesioni riportate: l’operazione è stata effettuata poco più di un mese fa, precisamente il 18 febbraio, dal Professor Carlo Grandis, specialista della mano, e dalla Dottoressa Alessandra Scalese. A Custonaci, per il suo ritorno in sella alla Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro, Oldrati è stato seguito dal fisioterapista e osteopata Matteo Elitropi.
Positiva performance anche per Rony Kytonen e Theo Espinasse, entrambi in gara nella classifica riservata ai piloti stranieri. Il finlandese ha centrato due ottime top ten con la 9° posizione il sabato e la 10° la domenica, registrando buoni tempi in tutte le speciali; 10° tempo per il francese nella prima giornata di gara, mentre purtroppo domenica è stato costretto al ritiro a seguito di una brutta caduta nell’enduro test nel corso del secondo giro.
La prossima prova degli Assoluti d’Italia è in programma il 24-25 aprile a Piediluco (TR).

“È andata meglio della prima gara. Sabato sono partito un po’ lento, ma poi ho preso un buon ritmo nel secondo e nel terzo giro. Domenica ero più veloce, stavo andando bene, ma nell’ultimo test sono caduto perdendo qualche posizione. Peccato, ma sono comunque contento per i passi fatti in avanti.”
