Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team had a great race at the Grand Prix of Slovakia with the extraordinary victory of Thomas Oldrati at the end of the epic challenge in E1 class with Verona and the first position of Rony Kytonen in EJ1 and Junior Overall.
The battle for the fifth round of the Enduro World Championship took place in Gelnica and riders completed 77 kilometres: from the start, competitors first headed to the Extreme Test (1.5 km) before reaching the Cross Test (6 km) and a very demanding Enduro Test of 8.5 km: 17 stages including the Super Test of Friday evening. The rain of Friday night and for the most part of Saturday made the race even more selective, especially the last four special stages, where numerous riders slipped.
After the excellent second place and sixth overall on Saturday, on Sunday Oldrati had a great day, winning in E1 and racing his way to fourth overall. In the challenge with Verona, he gave the show up to the last stage, conquering a very special success and returning to victory right in the same place where he won his first race in 2010. Victory for Rony Kytonen too: third on Saturday, on Sunday he won in EJ1 and Junior Overall setting excellent times in all stages with four best times. Good performance for Nathan Watson, who faced this race with an injured finger. The British came close to the podium in E2 on both race days, but good times allowed him to score two excellent top ten in the EnduroGP. From Slovakia, the team moves to Hungary for the sixth and next to last round of the World Championship.

Un Gran Premio di Slovacchia che rimarrà nella memoria di Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team con la straordinaria vittoria di Thomas Oldrati al termine della sfida epica con Verona nella E1 e la bellissima prima posizione di Rony Kytonen nella EJ1 e Junior Assoluta. Una dimostrazione di carattere e di talento.
La quinta prova del Mondiale Enduro si è svolta a Gelnica, su un percorso tra pinete infinite di 77 km con Extreme Test di 1.5 km, Cross Test di 6 km e Enduro Test di 8.5 km molto impegnativo e spettacolare, per un totale di 17 prove compreso il Super Test di venerdì sera. La pioggia caduta venerdì notte e in gran parte sabato ha reso le prove ancora più selettive, soprattutto le ultime 4 speciali, dove numerosi piloti sono scivolati.
Dopo l’ottima seconda posizione di sabato e la sesta assoluta, Oldrati domenica si è superato: in sfida con Verona per la testa nella E1, ha dato spettacolo sino all’ultima speciale, facendo sua una bellissima vittoria e chiudendo quarto assoluto a un soffio dal podio. Un successo dal sapore dolcissimo, conquistato dove proprio nel 2010 il pilota delle Fiamme Oro aveva vinto la sua prima giornata di gara. Vittoria anche per Rony Kytonen: terzo sabato per qualche errore, anche lui domenica si è imposto nella EJ1 e nella Junior Assoluta registrando ottimi tempi in tutte le speciali con quattro miglior tempi. Buona prova anche per Nathan Watson, arrivato a questa gara con problemi a un dito della mano. L’inglese ha sfiorato il podio della E2 in entrambe le giornate di gara ma i buoni tempi gli hanno permesso di centrare due ottime top ten nell’Assoluta. Dalla Slovacchia ci si sposta in Ungheria per la sesta e penultima prova del Mondiale.
